Our mission

Equipping students for boldness, sharing their faith, and prayer

What would it look like if followers of Jesus across their city all wore a shirt that said “What if we Prayed?” on a single day in their schools? We believe it would be a day of boldness, sharing your faith, power, connection, healing and prayer as the Holy Spirit empowers students.

We equip Hub Leaders, who then equip students with shirts that create prayer and conversations in their schools. Each month we coordinate a day when students wear the same shirt, on the same day, with the same message.

Made for This

In Collaboration with Made for This

Made for This is Alpha Canada’s prayer initiative, uniting people across the country to pray for Canada’s high schools and the students in them. Everyone who joins WIWP is invited to try Made for This too: choose a couple of schools to pray for and get weekly prayer prompts through the school year.

Why we pray

Prayer

What we believe about prayer, and where it comes from in Scripture.

Students praying together at a WIWP launch

Prayer is direct access to God because of Jesus. As followers of Jesus, we believe we can talk to God by praying.

1 John 5:14–15

Prayer is drawing on power through Jesus that is beyond ourselves.

Ephesians 3:20

Prayer is trusting God with our cares, knowing that he brings peace.

Philippians 4:6–7

Prayer is essential for fruitful Christian living.

John 15:4

Through prayer, God can do miraculous things.

James 5:16 · Matthew 7:7

God can bring healing when we pray.

James 5:14–15

In psychology, my teacher asked what my shirt said. She looked up the verse and said it was really encouraging and she really needed to hear that today! God isn’t just moving in students but in teachers too!

Questions

Frequently asked

For pastors, parents and students.

Students in WIWP shirts in a classroom
Does it cost anything?

Not for students. Shirts are 100% free to students, so anyone can take part without a financial barrier. The cost is covered locally: the church (or churches/youth networks) behind each Hub pays for the shirts for students in their area. WIWP does not pay for churches or Hubs.

Who runs WIWP?

WIWP is a national prayer campaign. Locally, it’s led by Hub Leaders who own the vision and values of WIWP and champion getting students involved. Your Hub Leader is your main contact.

How does a student get a shirt?

Every student completes prayer training, facilitated by their Hub Leader, that equips them to pray in their school. After the training they receive their free shirt.

Is my student allowed to wear this shirt at a public school?

Yes. In Canada, students are protected by constitutional religious freedoms, and many school staff members take part themselves. If any issue or misunderstanding comes up, students are asked to contact their Hub Leader right away.

What if no one asks my student for prayer?

That’s okay. Experiences vary each month: a student might pray for no one one month and pray for a teacher the next. We define success as showing up with a willing posture to be bold. God moves when we make ourselves available.

Can students wear their shirt on other days?

Yes! Students are welcome to wear it any day they like, as long as they also wear it on the monthly shirt days.

What if a shirt is lost or ruined?

No need to worry. Students can reach out to their Hub Leader, who will arrange a replacement at no cost.
